Great location, very close to the night market—just cross the street, walk straight a few hundred meters, and you're there, passing the westernmost Starbucks on the way 😅. Convenient for visiting the night market, and the surroundings are very quiet. Easy to get a taxi at the entrance. Convenient to get to Mingsha…
Unbeatable location. The lobby sculptures and overall decor are stunning, and the dining area has a lovely ethereal vibe. The room was spacious too. The only downside was having to stand in the bathtub to shower, with no handheld showerhead—just an overhead one. If they renovated the bathroom, it would be perfect!
My first stop in Dunhuang was Dunhuang Hotel, and it was incredibly heartwarming from the moment I arrived: the room was clean and tidy, and the hotel really takes care of Ctrip members—they upgraded my room without me even asking. Good to know
Does this hotel accept foreign guests?
Star-rated hotels — especially chains and anything four-star and above — almost always register foreign passports as routine. Smaller local hotels sometimes lack the foreign-guest license. Since 2024 hotels officially may not refuse foreign guests: if refused, call or SMS 12345. Book refundable when unsure.
How do I get there?
Show the big Chinese name above to any taxi or DiDi driver, or tap Find in Amap for turn-by-turn navigation. The Chinese name is what drivers read — English names are rarely recognized.
What does the star rating mean?
China's official hotel star rating is assessed by tourism authorities (GB/T 14308 standard): ★★★ = comfortable and reliable, ★★★★ = high-end with full services, ★★★★★ = luxury. It certifies quality, not foreign-guest policy — that's why we flag it separately.
How do I pay there?
Set up Alipay or WeChat Pay with your foreign Visa/Mastercard before you fly — QR payments work at virtually every hotel. Foreign credit cards are accepted at the front desk of most star-rated hotels. Full payments guide →
