The Helios Hotel has an impressive architectural style, a large parking lot, and is very convenient for self-driving guests. The rooms are clean, spacious, and bright. The hotel breakfast is rich and varied. At the hotel entrance, they sell their own takeout food at affordable prices, and it's delicious!
The hotel rooms are very spacious, and the parking lot is also large. It's not too far from the Drum Tower, and the environment is nice. However, since it's an old hotel, the facilities are just average. For the May Day holiday period, the value for money was decent.
If you're a guest who cares about details and food experiences, there are quite a few pleasant surprises here. First, the service is genuinely attentive, and the staff all wear masks, which puts you at ease. What impressed me most was the durian and red bean pastry in the restaurant — it looks just like a salted egg…

Good to know
Does this hotel accept foreign guests?
Star-rated hotels — especially chains and anything four-star and above — almost always register foreign passports as routine. Smaller local hotels sometimes lack the foreign-guest license. Since 2024 hotels officially may not refuse foreign guests: if refused, call or SMS 12345. Book refundable when unsure.
How do I get there?
Show the big Chinese name above to any taxi or DiDi driver, or tap Find in Amap for turn-by-turn navigation. The Chinese name is what drivers read — English names are rarely recognized.
What does the star rating mean?
China's official hotel star rating is assessed by tourism authorities (GB/T 14308 standard): ★★★ = comfortable and reliable, ★★★★ = high-end with full services, ★★★★★ = luxury. It certifies quality, not foreign-guest policy — that's why we flag it separately.
How do I pay there?
Set up Alipay or WeChat Pay with your foreign Visa/Mastercard before you fly — QR payments work at virtually every hotel. Foreign credit cards are accepted at the front desk of most star-rated hotels. Full payments guide →
