No. 59 Government Street, China

The room was quite large and the service was good. The only slight downside is that the hotel is a bit old and the facilities are not very new. However, the breakfast is very generous and excellent. The hotel is right next to a park and an ancient city wall. It's great to go out for a walk.
Facilities: It's an old government hotel, still with the style of the 80s and 90s. Cleanliness: Cleaning is okay. Environment: The only praiseworthy aspect is the environment. Next to the hotel is West Lake Park, with dim lights at night. It's very close to Guyuan Museum. Service: Average.
Great hotel location, convenient for dining and shopping nearby. Plenty of parking, both surface and underground. Service attitude is very good. Room was clean and bright, though the towels were a bit old. Breakfast had a wide variety. This is my second stay.

Star-rated hotels — especially chains and anything four-star and above — almost always register foreign passports as routine. Smaller local hotels sometimes lack the foreign-guest license. Since 2024 hotels officially may not refuse foreign guests: if refused, call or SMS 12345. Book refundable when unsure.

China's official hotel star rating is assessed by tourism authorities (GB/T 14308 standard): ★★★ = comfortable and reliable, ★★★★ = high-end with full services, ★★★★★ = luxury. It certifies quality, not foreign-guest policy — that's why we flag it separately.
Set up Alipay or WeChat Pay with your foreign Visa/Mastercard before you fly — QR payments work at virtually every hotel. Foreign credit cards are accepted at the front desk of most star-rated hotels. Full payments guide →
